If you're just getting started in Magma, there are some important points to know about different browsers, and the layout of the canvas interface on your device.
Browsers
For all browsers if you are using a computer with a drawing tablet:
make sure that you have th latest compatible driver for your tablet installed
make sure you have Tip Double Click Distance turned off in your tablet settings.
Chrome
Google Chrome is our recommended browser for all systems.
Firefox
Firefox browser doesn't support copy & paste yet.
Brush strokes might only appear after you draw a short distance from the starting point.
Alt key works inconsistently on Firefox browser.
Edge
Some older versions of Edge browser don't support copy & paste.
Safari - MacOS
Please note that Safari on MacOS does NOT have native support for pressure-sensitive stylus input. Please use Chrome or Firefox instead.
On Chrome on Mac, an external mouse can sometimes interfere with stylus pressure. Try disconnecting or reconnecting your mouse if you're losing pressure sensitivity while drawing.
Opera
Opera browser doesn't allow web applications to use right mouse button and Alt key, all shortcuts using these buttons will not work correctly.
iOS
either Safari or Chrome are recommended for usinig Magma on iPad or iPhone.
Only official Apple Pencils give pressure sensitivity iPad.
We recommend that you disable Scribble feature when using stylus with iOS devices. Scribble feature is interfering with internet applications and may cause issues when drawing.
We also recommend that you disable Low Power mode as it slows down drawing and can cause noticeable lag.
Layout modes
Depending your device and screen resolution, your Magma layout might look different. Most mobile devices for example will automatically switch the layout to super simple mode wheich groups certain tools together, and hides your colour wheel, layers and settings pnels buhind dedicated buttons.
To change your layout, tap on the cog or gear icon on the right side of your screen. Choose your preferred mode.
If you are using a computer with a larger screen, you might want your layers to be in a dedicated column. For this, set your layout to two-column mode.
Using Magma with a phone or mobil device
If you are using Magma on a device that has a smaller screen, like a phone or a mobile tablet, you may notice some differences, like with the layout modes mentioned above. There are also things that you can do to improve the mobile experience like:
Use super simple mode layout
Enter fullscreen mode to hide the browser UI
Use a wireless keyboard to use keyboard shortcuts rather pen or finger to change tools or settings
hide chat notifications so that new messages do not obstruct your drawing

Pen pressure
Please see the above browser notes as these contain important information related to pen pressure.
Pressure sensitivity is only available for computers using a drawing tablet, mobile tablets with compatible pens (iPad with Applie Pencil, Samsung Galaxy Tab with S Pen, etc.) and compatible 2-in-1 computers with a pressure sensitive stylus.
If you have trouble with pen pressure, please see this guide to troubleshoot.
Some Huion and Gaomon devices are known to have pressure issues in the browser.
Layers
Your layers panel can be found on the right. If you are in super simple mode, you can expose your layers panel with this button.
Read the full Layers guide here.
Keyboard shortcuts
Shortcuts can be customized in Application settings window. If the shortcuts are shown incorrectly make sure the keyboard layout is set correctly in Application settings shortcuts section.
Read this guide for more on keyboard shortcuts and how to customize them.
Inviting others
The simplest way to invite others to draw with you is to share the link for your drawing. You can do this from the address bar in your browser, or tap on the blue Share button on the canvas.
Invite people that follow you with the Invite to Draw button.
Lag
If you experience lag in Magma, it could be caused by multiple things. Older or more basic devices for example might not run Magma smoothly. Try the following:
first restart your device
close unused browser tabs
try open a smaller canvas
check your stabilizer setting. I higher value can cause the appearance of lag
switch to a simpler and smaller brush. Some more complex brushes will lag at large sizes
