I can't draw inside the app

Do you have a layer assigned to you?
​You can see if a layer is assigned to you by both the colour bar that matches your profile colour, and your name in the layer description.

Do you have Layer permissions?
​Hit the New Layer button. If a new layer is not created, then you might not have permission from the canvas owner to add or own layers.

Do you have a brush or pixel pencil selected?
​This may seem obvious, but double-check that you have a drawing tool like the brush or pixel pencil selected before looking at the other options that follow.

Is the brush or layer opacity on 0%?
​There are two opacity sliders that might affect the visibility of your brush strokes. First make sure that your Layer Opacity is not set to zero.

Then check that your brush opacity and flow are not set to zero.

Is your brush colour the same as the background colour?
​It sometimes havppens that you accidentally colourpick the background colour. When you try to draw, you don’t see anything. Check that your selected colour is different.

Is your layer locked?
​If you layer is locked, you will not be able to change any of it’s pixels, meaning that you cannot draw or erase. If your layer is locked, there will be a padlock icon in the layer description.

Do you have opacity lock or clipping mask active?
​These will prevent you from drawing over transparent/empty pixels. First check if the opacity lock is on or off. This must be set to Off.

Then, do you have a clipping mask on?
If a layer is clipped to the one below it, you can only draw where the base layer has coloured pixels already. You will know if it’s a clipping layer because of the indentation in the layers panel.

Do you have a selection active?
​If you recently used any of the selection tools, you may still have a selection active. Use the Deselect option in your Edit menu or the shortcut Ctrl+D to deselect all just in case.

Is your selected layer covered by another one?
​If someone has a layer above yours that is filled, you might not be able to see the contents of your layer.

Is your editor locked?
​The canvas might still be loading, in which case you’ll get an Editor is locked notification.

Is the canvas in Read Only mode?
​After a certain amount of time, inactive Art Jams are archived and become Read Only. This means that you can no longer draw on the canvas. Canvas owners will be able to restore the Art Jam, making it Live and editable.

No Access message
​If you followed a canvas link where the page says you don’t have access to the space, then the canvas is housed in and Artspace that you aren’t a member of yet. Request the Artspace invitation link from the person that invited you.
