Artspaces are similiar to your Artdesk but are communal spaces where you invite members, and can all access the drawings there. These are great for groups of friends, project teams, or themed communities.

This guide is a condensed version of our more detailed Artspace, Artdesk, and Art Jas Management guide.

To create an Artspace, go to your dashboard and look for the Magma logo in the top right corner. If you're on mobile, tap on this to open the side panel. Below the Magma logo and Art Jams icon, you will find a + button to create an Artspace.

Give your Artspace a relevant name and decide if the space is public or private. Private Artsapces on a Spark plan can have a maximum of five members.

You'll also have an option to decide how users can join your Artspace. If you set set it to Request to Join, a request can be sent from your Artspace's profile page.

In the Artspace creation process, you can customize it's profile. You can edit this later from the Artspace profile page or your Artspace settings.

Like with your main account profile, Artspaces can have profile pages too. This is were you can give your Artspace character and tell the world what it's all about.

If your Artspace is set to public, then anyone with a Magma account can join when they visit your profile by the blue Join button. You can see more about how to customize the profile here.

In future, you can look forward to dedicated Artspace feeds and galleries too where you can show off what your community does together.

You can share the posts from your Artspace hangouts or other updates to the feed or gallery on your Artspace profile page. When making a post, you will see an option for where to post to: either your own feed or an artspace feed.

There are two settings for these posts that determine the audience that can see it:

Image posts that are set to public will also appear in the Homepage's Discover section.

Adding posts to your feed and gallery will also help others get a sense of wha your Artspace is about an what they can look forward to if they join.

When creating your Artspace, you will be given a link to share with friends to invite them. To find this, tap on the Artspace name to open the dropdown menu with the Invite option.

Or, if your Artspace is set to public and anyone can join (or request to), you can share the link for the Artspace profile. Join requests can be found in your Artspace settings.

While Artspaces are mostly for members only, there is the option to host Art Jams within an Artspace that can opened up to the wider Magma community.

Artspace Art Jams can be dynamically switched between public and members-only, and this is available to both Public and Private Artspaces. With public Artspces hosting a public Art Jam

You can have a few different kinds of channels in an Artspace: regular Files channels for drawings, Text channels for chat, Voice for calls (upcoming feature) and content pages.

To create a channel, find the + button next to the Files or Text channels header in your dashboard:

Then choose the type of channel:

Regular projects are for creating and storing folders and drawings. You can create canvases here or import drawnig files from your device.

Text channels are for chatting with your Artspace members. Within a text channel, you also have a tab for drawing boards.

When a board is active in a text channel, you'll see it live in the side panel.

You can control who can chat in text channels by adjusting the roles and permissions in your Artspace settings.

Use content pages to embed videos, links, or post interesting info for your artspace members.

With the Article option, you can add your own thumbnail and add your own Description. This can be published as a modal so that members will see this content pop up next time they view the artspace.

You'll be able to manage the members, roles and permissions, access, and bans in your Artspace settings. Tap on the Artsspace name in the top left and select Settings from the menu.

In the members page, you can invite, assign roles and remove or ban members.

If your artspace is set to Public with Request to Join on, the you can manage join requests in your Artspace settings too.

Permissions are an important part of managing your Artspace well and we encourage Artspace owners to spend some time setting this part up. There are many permissions that you can customize.

When adding new roles, be sure to also adjust the Everyone role and remove unwanted permissions.

To delete an Artspace, you can find this option at the bottom of the Details section of the Settings. Please make sure that you save any important work to your device and cancel any Blaze plan that might be active before you delete the space.

Artspaces can be upgraded to the Blaze plan where one user can manage a subscription for multiple members. You can upgrade from the dropdown when tapping on your Artspace name in the dashboard.

To leave an artspace that you've joined, tap on the artspace name in the top left to open the menu, and then select the Leave artspace option.
