Magma’s interactive presentation mode brings together all the important and necessary features to your canvas for you to host engaging meetings, presentations, and online classes.
Presentation Mode is currently in Beta and it's only available for specific users upon request. Please contact [email protected] if you want to test it with your team. If you encounter any problems or unusual behavior of the tool on your system, please let us know.
Navigation and controls
First, some important UI elements that may be useful for your presentations:
Chat - Voice Call - Presentation mode icons In the bottom next to your layers panel, you will find three icons: Chat, Call, and Presentation mode.
Sequence panel to prepare your slides In the bottom corner of your tools panel, you will find the icon for the sequence panel. This is where you can arrange various slides for your presentation, or have different artists and students working.
How to start and end a presentation
To start a presentation, click or tap on the Presentation Mode icon next to your settings panel. A new dialogue window will appear where you can adjust the settings and invite users to the presentation.

Make Audience follow your Active Slide will ensure that participants are always on the same page.
Hide Sequence Panel from Audience will collapse the series of slides or canvases from view. If an audience member tries to open the sequence panel while this setting is active, a notification will appear prompting them to contact the presenter.
Focus Audience view will make sure that if you zoom in and move around on the canvas, your audience view will follow accordingly.
Hide UI in Presentation Mode on enter will hide the various panels including the left toolbar, settings and layers panels, and top menu bar. All viewers will see is the active canvas.
Hiding the UI will also disable the drawing tools for audience members. You will be able to toggle this setting on/off during your presentation.
Inviting others to the canvas
If you want to invite users who are not already active in your canvas sequence, you can share link to the canvas with them. The link provided in the dialog window is the same as the URL shown at the top of your browser window and is for the currently active canvas.
If the canvas you are presenting from is within an artspace, users will first need to be a member of that artspace before they can join the canvas.
Adding users to the presentation
You’ll also have the option to invite specific users from your sequence panel canvases, or all users. To invite all users across the sequence, switch to the From the Sequence of Canvases tab and select All.
The Oblige users to join option will force selected participants into the presentation. If this is unchecked, other users will receive a pop-up invitation to join.
When have finished adjusting your settings and selected your audience members, you can go ahead and tap the blue Start Presenting button.
How to end a presentation
There are two ways to end a presentation. Either select the option from the floating blue banner in the top left or open the presentation settings menu in the bottom right and select End Presentation.
Using Presentation mode
New UI elements and settings
When starting a presentation, you’ll notice new UI elements appear. The blue banner in the top left will display how many users have joined the presentation and give the option to end the presentation.
In the bottom right above the Presentation Mode icon will turn blue to indicate that a presentation is active. Above that, you’ll find a new settings button which will open up actions to manage your audience, adjust various settings, and also to end the presentation.
Navigating through your slides
To easily navigate through your slides, you can either tap on a specific one in the sequence panel or navigate from left to right using the keyboard shortcuts “,” (left) and “.” (right). You can adjust these shortcuts in the application settings found under your Edit menu.
Managing the audience
To manage your audience, tap the underlined text in the top left blue banner, or open the presentation mode settings menu and select the option. A new dialog window will appear that allows you to add more users to your presentation or remove them.
Inactivity
After three minutes of inactivity, a notification will appear asking “Are you still there?” giving you the option to continue or end the presentation.
Collaboration
Keep drawing as both presenter and audience Magma’s presentation mode leaves the drawing tools active for the presenter and audience allowing both to continue drawing or writing notes on the active slide. Keep in mind that if you have chosen to hide the UI during the presentation, audience members may have a difficult time changing tools or tool settings.
Pass on the presentation to another user If you have co-presenters, you can easily pass control of the presentation over to them by tapping the presentation mode setting button in the bottom right, tapping on the user’s icon, and select OK when the Pass The Presenter Role window appears.
Admin settings for presentation mode As the canvas owner or admin, you can determine who is able to start or take over presentations within your sequence. You can find these settings under the Admin menu from your canvas. Both Approved and Admin roles can be assigned to specific users who you might want to have these permissions.
