Automod for Artspace and Art Jam chat [BETA]

This guide covers the automod language filter for your Artspace channels and Art Jam chat which blocks out swearing and offensive language.

Written by Ryan

When creating an Art Jam or a new chat channel in your Artspace, you will notice an option to enable automatic moderation. This will help you limit offensive comments in your communal spaces and keep the chats clean while you focus on drawing or are away from your keyboard.

This is a particularly useful feature for live streamers and event hosts. The Automod feature is not enabled by default. You will have to enable where necessary. More info below.

Enabling the Automod in Art Jams

For Art Jams, you will see the option to enable automatic moderation when creating a new one. When enabling it, you can choose between blocking only offensive words, or swearing and offensive words.

You can also edit your existing Art Jam by tapping on the name of the Jam in your top bar and selecting Edit.

Enabling the Automod in Artspace channels

When creating a new Artspace channel, you will also see the Automod setting available. You have the same choices between Off/Disabled, Offensive, or both Swearing and Offensive.

For existing Artspace channels, you will have to edit each one manually. Automod is set for each channel individually and not for the entire Artspace. To edit your Artspace channel, open the channel and tap the three dot in the top right. Then select Channel Settings.

Disabling the Automod feature

You can dsiable the Automod feature in your Artspace channel or Art Jam at any time. Simply open up the settings for the channel or Art Jam and set it to Off or Disabled.

What happens when Automod flags a message

When a user sends a message that contains any restricted words, the automod automatically hides that message from other users.

If a user repeatedly tries to send messages with offensive language, the user will be flagged and unable to send any messages in the chat at all for a set amount of time.

This rule applies in both Artspace chat channels and Art Jams that have the Automod enabled.

When you disable the Automod, a user that was previously flagged will be able to send messages normally again.

Is there an editable list of restricted words?

No. There is not list that individual users and Artspace owners can customize.

You may be able to request words to be added or removed by contacting us on our Support chat.

Can I enable Automod on existing Art Jams and Artspace channels?

Yes. You can edit the settings of your existing Art Jam or Artspace channel to enable or disable the automod at any time.
